Hi I'm Danielle. I'm an art teacher at Bonduel Elementary School and this is my first Tech Academy experience! I'm having and awesome time and learning a lot :)
Overview of content/topic level of unit plan:
Drawing and painting the human face can present challenges to beginning students of art. The proportions are generally the biggest hindrance to successful portraits, but also, how do we capture our personality in the mood or expression of a painting? This unit consists of three art projects: a value study portrait and two abstract collages. This unit also requires students to examine who they are as individuals and how they can apply their personality traits or characteristics to real world issues. The essential questions being asked are: Who am I and how do I fit into this world? How are we as individuals perceived by others?
I am including the use of a visual ranking tool, a project checklist and a project Rubric.
I will be working with 5th grade students over a period of 6 class periods.
